Apartment designed to help maximize supports, develop skills, develop relationships in that community, assist with gaining confidence and increased independence.


Cisco is providing sensors for added safety (door, medication cabinet, water taps).  Also, in process of creating an autonomous living app to support individuals in multiple settings

Lou fruitman

The Lou Fruitman Reena Residence is a new housing project under development in Thornhill, modelled on the success of the Reena Community Residence. 

It will provide housing to over 130 adults and seniors of diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges and physical disabilities. 

The residence is designed to be an intentional community where tenants who have chosen to live in the building and the agencies supporting them are committed to creating one community of support. While elements and units may be led or dedicated to servicing a subset of tenants, all are part of one community. 


  • Assessment (TALK-HA) used to create a learning plan that will guide what is needed to get individuals ready to be live independently
  • Use data to inform progress and needs, use practice unit to build these skills.
