Continued Education

Promoting Continued Education

The Continuing Education program focuses on engaging participants in a variety of functional literacy-based activities which promote development in reading, writing, comprehension, and numeracy skills. Working in a group setting and using a variety of materials, participants have the opportunity to develop reading, numeracy, time, public speaking, and money concept skills. This program strives to ensure skills learned in school remain throughout adulthood.

Computer and Technology Training

Participants interested in developing computer skills have the opportunity to work on a variety of programs designed to increase overall computer and technology skills. Computer, iPad, phone and photography training are large aspects of this program, as well as typing, using search engines, understanding Microsoft applications, and cyber safety.

The Continuing Education program also leads our Alternatives Participant Newsletter ensuring all important dates, events, and updates are noted. This group oversees developing the newsletter, creating the graphics, taking and adding photos, getting it professionally printed and distributing to all participants.

News and Views

This is a time for program participants to learn about and reflect on current issues in the news. Politics, entertainment, and sports are popular topics for discussion. Public speaking, oral communication and reading and comprehension skills are refined and practiced during this program.
